From The Editor

Sooner or later many of us find ourselves suddenly unemployed. I was 63 this time. It’s not a life changing disaster, but I still needed to work. Thought about it for a few weeks, spoke to a few people, read a few things, and then I chose to become self employed.

The last three years taught me quite a bit about Horticulture. Not the usual lawn mowing and yard tidy-up, I mean the jobs that encourage good growth, foliage, flowers and fruit. Will people pay me to go to their place and do it for their plants ? I registered a business name : Specialised Garden Services.

Should be quite straight forward : Know the work, have the tools, have a way to be paid, and have a way to let people know I’m available. And keep a good spread sheet for tax time.

The Services I Offer

– Irrigation Maintenance
– Pruning and Shaping
– Fertilising
– Soil Improvement
– Pest and Disease Management

The plant knows what it needs to do. My job is to make sure it’s happy enough to get on with it.
